Brookline Meetinghouse: Bringing our Community Together
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
There have been several significant Meetinghouse events during 2025 designed with a goal of bringing our community together. These included: Music with the Happy Valley Sessions In April; Annual May Plant Sale; Legislator Q & A at BMH in June; Annual Town Party in August; A Soup Night in November; and a Holiday Social and Cookie Exchange in December.
In addition, the Town continues to move forward towards restoring these old buildings. You might have noticed a new bright white coat of paint on the wooden annex. We still need to replace the steps and landing to the entrance of the Annex as well as build an ADA accessibility ramp. Other tasks on the list include insulating the annex so it can be used year-round. Currently, we must shut down the plumbing each winter to keep it from freezing, making the building much less accessible during the winter months. There is still much to do: structural repairs to beams under the annex, refurbishing the historical windows, bat-proofing the attic area, and dealing with the mold. Hopefully some of the steps already taken (e.g… landscaping to draw water away from the building) will mitigate that problem.
