Job Description
SUMMARY
The Brookline Vermont Selectboard Administrative assistant (“SB Assistant”) will provide general administrative support to the Selectboard. The SB Assistant interacts with all Selectboard members, and may interact with members of the public, as directed by the Selectboard. The inital budgeted hours for this position is estimated to be 20 hours per month or roughly 4 hours per week. Selectboard meetings are held twice a month, but other working hours may be arranged on a flexible schedule. Some work may be possible to do remotely.

INITIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Set up Selectboard meetings twice a month, and occasional special meetings as required; this includes setting up the computer equipment necessary for remote/hybrid meetings
  2. Post warnings for all Selectboard meetings on Town boards and Town website
  3. Filing/organization/maintenance of Selectboard documents/materials not maintained by the Town Clerk or Treasurer
  4. Email reports and other correspondence to/from Selectboard members as needed
  5. Other general Selectboard administrative work as requested and budgeted hours permit

    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS DESIRED
  6. High school diploma or equivalent.
  7. General administrative, clerical or office work experience
  8. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  9. Computer and other technology experience
    Opportunity exists to add responsibilities including training for the position of assistant to the Treasurer as well as increased hours for additional Selectboard administrative work such as grading RFPs, agendas, and contracts for vendors, and maintaining databases for same. Budgeted hours increase next fiscal year as of July 1, 2024.
