Situated between the West River and Putney Mountain, Brookline, Vermont is a small, rural town with a little more than 500 residents. The famous Round Schoolhouse sits across from the Town Office. Brookline may not have a “downtown,” gas station, or shopping center, but it does offer a warm and friendly place to live and visit.

The Voter Checklist is posted at the Town Office as of January 27, 2026. If your name is not on the checklist, then you must register to vote.
Property Taxes are due February 10th, 2026


Learn about our history….
The Round Schoolhouse
In 1822, the Round Schoolhouse was built and used as a school until 1929 when it was replaced by the present school building. The Round Schoolhouse served the Town from 1929 to 1989 as a Town Hall for various town functions.
The Brookline Meetinghouse
In 1836 the Brookline Baptist Church was erected. It is currently known locally as The Historic Brookline Meetinghouse.
The Stone Arch Culvert
On October 23, 2025, the Vermont Advisory Council on Historic Preservation voted to list the Brookline Stone Arch Culvert in the State Register of Historic Places, the state’s official list of historic properties significant to the history of Vermont.
