2024 Elections Summary

2024 ELECTIONS SUMMARY

The following is a summary of what to expect in the upcoming elections this year, 2024. We will run elections on five dates, 3/4/2024, 3/5/2024, 3/26/2024, 8/13/2024 and 11/5/24.

Brookline Annual Town Meeting will be held Monday evening, March 4, 2024 in the all-purpose room at the former Brookline Elementary School (Suzy’s Little Peanuts Daycare Center). Meeting starts 6 p.m., Social Hour 5 p.m.  All voting will be from the floor.

The following elections will be Australian ballots:

  • 3/05/2024 Presidential Primary
  • 3/26/2024 West River Modified Union District Annual Meeting.
  • 8/13/2024 Vermont State Primary
  • 11/5/2024 Vermont General Election

Brookline Polls open at 9 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. The town office is the polling place.

Not all elections are run the same way.

In March and August, voters will need to request absentee ballots if they want to vote early or by mail.

In November, the VT Secretary of State will be mailing absentee ballots to all active voters.

In the March Presidential Primary, voters are required to cast their ballot on a specific party ballot.

In the August State Primary, voters will choose to vote a party ballot in private.
