Composing Information Workshop & Demo

It’s Time for Composting!

Join us for the spring open house of the Windham Solid Waste Management District’s
Backyard Composting Demonstration Site
Saturday, May 15, 1:30-3:30
WSWMD Transfer Station

Featuring a variety of compost tumblers, bins, and tools, WSWMD’s Composting Demonstration Site will be open for self-guided learning. The Demo Site can also be used by garden clubs, schools, community groups, and others who want to offer compost workshops and hands-on learning opportunities. The Demo Site Open House will feature mini-compost workshops, “Ask a Compost Expert,” kitchen caddies and compostable bags giveaways, compost bin sales, and a free raffle for an Earth Machine Compost Bin. Learn more about how to safely compost food scraps, what to do if your compost isn’t heating up, how to keep wildlife away, the pros and cons of different compost bins, how to tell when your compost is “done,” and more! Check the District’s website (WindhamSolidWaste.org) for more information about the open house or pick up a flier at the Transfer Station Scale House (327 Old Ferry Rd.). Our event is kid friendly and Covid safe!
